Commonism – the new Communism?

In his new years address, Pope Benedict XVI used either  the words “common”, “community”, “communities” or “communion” 29 times along with a liberal sprinkling of the word “solidarity” and the term “human family”. At the inauguration of US President Obama there was a similar theme, Rick Warren: “common good“, Barack Obama: “common purpose”,”common good”, “common defense”, “common humanity”, “common dangers“, Bishop Lowery: “community of nations”, “solidarity”, “oneness of our family“. And so global Commonism is born.

Commonism espouses a looming environmental crisis that must be addressed by reducing conventional energy consumption and developing alternative energy sources on the basis of a warming planet when recent science shows cooling. Pope Benedict (new year address) : “The problems looming on the horizon are complex and time is short”‘ “The technologically advanced countries are facing two pressing needs in this regard: on the one hand, to reassess the high levels of consumption due to the present model of development, and on the other hand to invest sufficient resources in the search for alternative sources of energy and for greater energy efficiency”. President Obama (inauguration speech): “We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories”, “and roll back the specter of a warming planet”.

The old Communism operated by way of centralized control but did not succeed at a global level. The new Commonism is starting its march at the global level, building on foundations already laid by organizations with a  global reach but with the same ultimate aim of centralized control by harnessing the momentum of environmentalism.  Pope Benedict advocates even more centralized bureaucracy in the new year address : “Further international agencies may need to be established in order to confront together the stewardship of this “home” of ours”, and centralized wealth distribution in the guise of environmental protection: “If the protection of the environment involves costs, they should be justly distributed, taking due account of the different levels of development of various countries” and “equitable distribution of wealth”. These statements are in concert with the orchestrations of the United Nations.

Commonism will not have global control until the global common good is codified into global common law. To this end the UN and the Vatican are in unison. Pope Benedict devotes three paragraphs to “moral” law in the new year address but the summary is this: “power must always be disciplined by law, and this applies also to relations between sovereign States”. This implies a subjugation of states and peoples to the arbiter of the “law” which begs the question – who is the arbiter?

After 15 paragraphs of political assessment, Pope Benedict moves to spiritual direction – in two sentences: “I likewise invite believers to implore tirelessly from God the great gift of peace. Christians, for their part, know that they can trust in the intercession of Mary, who, as the Mother of the Son of God made flesh for the salvation of all humanity, is our common Mother”. It seems that the business of merging the interests of organized religion with global common law and the sanction of global power take far greater precedence than the salvation of souls for eternity.

And the bible prophecy connection? Consider this from Revelation 13:

“16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name”.

Now that’s Commonism.

Update 1

The words community, communities and community’s occur 89 times in the modern NIV translation of the bible but do not occur once in the KJV translation. The reason being that Christian Socialists (Communists) have been influential in most modern bible translations; these are invariably copyrighted, the KJV is not, it is open source: “the word of God is not bound” 2 Tim 2:9.

Update 2

The KJV uses the word “common” twice in relation to property and possessions:

Acts 2:44,45 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

Acts 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

This was not a society wide phenomenon but was a spontaneous action only within the believer group. It was also voluntary and ensured all members needs were met. Neither was it in response to any edict that this was the ideal societal model or that it would result in earthly utopia.

Interesting thought. In fact, I had a similar insight when I wrote my free e-book Walkabout: The History of a Brief Century. There’s a passage in the book dealing with private vs. public interest.

This manuscript was written long before the One World Government fashion was dreamt up. I’m keeping it the way it is, though: I can’t see that a UN-style bureaucracy could achieve what the Beast is to achieve in three and a half brief years. Revelation talks about one leader with just one main sidekick; that’s a setup that can act as fast as they want.

See what you think–I’d appreciate your comments.

I’ve skimmed Walkabout as much as my time allows and as future scenarios go it is as good as any and a lot better than most prophecy “experts” attempts. I agree, leave it as it is, no-one can know now exactly how it will be (Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth Job 38:4). The key is to have a frame of reference and adjust accordingly as events play out i.e. “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do Sir?” (Keynes). The imagery and symbolism of Revelation will become clear to the observer when the events play out but only IMO when accompanied by study of the historical buildup and some speculation no matter how inaccurate that might turn out to be.

An educated response to centralized control and the public “common good” encroaching on private endeavour must be along the lines of “be careful what you wish for”. Ask the Austrians about their decision to vote for Hitlers solution for example. My view of any vehicle of domination is that it is helped along by Satan but that any succeeding global regime will lead to a showdown between Satan and his earthly regime versus Christ and his army.

The current battle lines are being drawn between those who seek truth and those swayed by deception, propaganda and the like. There is no better relevant case study at present than the issue of climate change and the exposure of the deception via climategate. Take a look at the protagonists: on one side sceptics, rational thinkers, atheists, eschatological christians, scientists, pragmatic farmers etc; on the other propaganda believers, group thinkers, socialists, ecumenical christians, pantheists, scientists, bureaucrats, manipulated masses etc. This is also the issue whereby the OWG may be enacted eventually. As you allude, the specter of invasive OWG is a relatively recent phenomenom – in secular circles, eschatological Christians have known about it since circa AD 95.

I watched climategate break from the beginning and will never forget how so many people were incredulous that MSM were not touching the story even after two weeks. A lot of pennies dropped and dots were joined over that period. Neither will I forget this comment at the sceptical scientific site Watts Up With That “The only thing that stands between us and totalitarianism, is the internet”. Also how’s this for an indicator. I joined in the debate at Hot Topic and being a sceptic was met with this “I can’t wait until people like you are tried in the Hague for crimes against humanity”. I replied that I hoped to be assigned the cell next to Galileo.

By your comment I think you underestimate the current reach of UN/EU activities and what they can achieve through the conditioning of public opinion, not necessarily by the bureaucracy acting alone. We in New Zealand have enacted an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), the first outside Europe. Aside from being based on out of date science and creating an unnecessary bureaucracy, it was put in place for two reasons: to enable NZ products to be sold into Europe and to assuage public opinion locally. Remember the haranguing CHOGM 2009 received from Ban Ki-moon and Sarkozy – since when were they Commonwealth Heads? And what was Merkel doing calling for World Government in the US Congress? So the UN/EU influence is already pervasive.

I differ a little from your interpretation of Revelation (13 ?). The platform for the period of intense 3 1/2 year activity has already been laid and there are plenty of case studies available, inquisition, holocaust, gulags etc. The first Beast is the bureaucracy, the governmental side of the Theocracy. Rev. 13 speaks of this beast having a voice i.e. a spokesperson not a specific leader. This is the fundamental misinterpretation in Christendom – that there are two men coming. There is only one man coming, the second beast of Rev 13 and he heads the religious side (OWR) of the theocracy. It is this man that is the False Prophet, the Anti-Christ, the Man of Sin.

Thank you, Richard, for your insights. We can agree that we’re partakers of that ancient Chinese curse: May you live in interesting times!
